Founding & Current Operations
Opec General Trading Co. was established at the beginning of the civil war in Somalia, where disorder and chaos were at the highest across the country. Understanding the reality on the ground, the founders put together a business plan that would create an environment conducive to the goal & vision of the company.
It was founded by the late Abdullahi Warsame Jama, who was the General Manager of the company and the holder of major shares of the company. Mohamed Warsame (Geedi) is the co-founder of the company is currently the General Manager of Opec. Both founders are Engineering Graduates and have had extensive experience in Business.
Today, the Opec General Trading Co. operates in 12 major cities in Somalia. Based out of Bosaso, Puntland, the company has effectively secured distribution centers in all of Somalia’s major business centers.
Keeping true to the vision of the company, the founders have created partnerships with a large number of companies across North, Central & South Somalia. The company contracts with hundreds of local and international suppliers to provide its customers with necessities at an affordable price.
